The Minnesota Timberwolves moved up to snag the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft in one of the most unexpected and exciting moments in franchise history.
Wolves fans rejoiced on social media as they rightfully should. But because Twitter is what it is, and the Timberwolves are who they are, it wasn’t long before the zingers started flying.
“Of course they moved up, there is no clear No. 1 pick!” “It will be exciting to see which future HOFer they pass on!” “I KAHN’t wait to see how they screw this one up!”
Now, I know this will sound a little empty coming from me, a guy who has a hard time ever turning down a good cheap shot, but we should just let the long-suffering Wolves fans enjoy and without piling on.
The Wolves belong in the top 5 of every one of those lists about fans who have been crotch-kicked the most over the years. I will spare everyone the horror of going through the greatest hits list. You all know it by heart. Plus, I am getting tired and don’t have five hours to compile every bad thing that has happened to this team.
So let’s all back off and just let Wolves fans be happy. This doesn’t happen very often to them.
Then in a few months when they inevitably botch the pick we can all rush back to social media with our best material.
